Hello there, I'm Tara!
Some fun facts about me:
I have a major sweet tooth and can be won over with dark chocolate or ice cream!
My favorite color is green - specifically lime or mint or teal (if that counts as green lol).
I LOVE blown glass, especially Dale Chihuly’s work! The first photo of me is in front of his ceiling work of art at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. If in the Omaha area you can see his work at the Joslyn Art Museum.
My husband, Clark, and I met at work! We have been a couple since 2005 and we got married in July 2010.
I adore and love to spoil our rescue pup, Drew, who we recently learned is not just a mutt, but a designer hybrid called a Jack-a-Bee (Beagle/Jack Russell Terrier mix)!
Now the nitty gritty details about my background:
I am a professional graphic designer with over 13 years of experience! My passion for designing wedding invitation suites began with my wedding. My husband is also a graphic designer and journalist so we decided if we didn't design our own invitations, people would question what was wrong with us. I fell in love with all of the options (not as many back then as there are now) and decided to help friends and family out as well over the years. In 2014 I was encouraged by family and friends to start my own business designing invitations on the side.
While I have hopes of running this business full-time, during the day I work as a graphic designer at the Center for Public Affairs Research at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
I hold free consultations at local coffee shops so let me know if you have a favorite you’d like to meet at. Personally, I don’t drink coffee, but I’m a sucker for a great hot chocolate in the winter months and a smoothie in the warmer months! Most consultations are held in the evening or on the weekends, whatever works best for both of our schedules.
As far as my career history goes: I've held a variety of jobs from copy editor/page designer at a daily newspaper, to in-house graphic designer for a membership-driven organization, to multimedia graphics and web officer for a state organization, to graphics project coordinator at a printing company.
I was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to a kindergarten teacher and mechanical engineer (creativity was a part of my life from a young age!). I attended the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg where I graduated in December 2004 with a B.S. in journalism and minored in graphic design.
